Questions people ask.
What is the braid?
The braid is our braided egg bread: a soft, golden loaf enriched with eggs, brushed with egg wash and finished with sesame seeds. It is the same family of bread as challah and brioche. We bake it through the day in our own ovens and use it for every sandwich, in three cuts.
What are The Braid, The Whole Braid and The Triple?
Three cuts of the same loaf. The Braid is two thin slices from the long loaf, griddled, about 70 g of bread. The Whole Braid is the round roll split in half, about 95 g. The Triple is three slices with two layers of filling, about 105 g. Every sandwich comes in all three; the price follows the cut.
What is Paola's Braid?
Our signature sandwich: grilled chicken breast, mozzarella and provolone, basil pesto and arugula on the braid. It started as a Saturday lunch at our family table and is the first thing on the menu.
Where is Braid & Berry today?
Saturdays at Little Italy Mercato (W Date St and India St), Sundays at Hillcrest Farmers Market (3960 Normal St), and weekdays at our booth at One Paseo, 7am to 2pm. The Find us section of this page shows today's location and a map.
Do you deliver in San Diego?
Yes. Order on this page for pickup or delivery, 10am to 8pm, or through DoorDash and Uber Eats. Delivery boxes are vented so the bread does not steam.
Do you do catering?
Yes. Office lunch boxes from 10 people, party boxes with Whole Braids cut in halves and Braid Sticks, and morning boxes with Honey Butter Braids and French toast. Request a quote in the catering section; we reply within a day.
What are Braid Sticks?
The corners of the braided loaf, toasted and finished four ways: cinnamon sugar, garlic butter with melted provolone, or warm with a chocolate hazelnut or dulce de leche dip. Three for $5, six for $9.
Do you have vegetarian or lighter options?
The Caprese (fresh mozzarella, tomato, pesto) is vegetarian, every Blend is fruit and plant-based or yogurt-based, and The Braid cut keeps any sandwich at about 70 g of bread. Ask us about allergens at the counter or in your order notes.
